One should not think that the bubble tea and specialty coffee are antagonists in the sense that David and Goliath are antagonists. We know the story: given the choice to do it all over again, David of course would still rather hit Goliath on the forehead with a rock than live with him. The relationship between bubble tea and specialty coffee is a tad different though, and one cannot see bubble tea displacing coffee anytime soon.

On one short stretch (less than a mile) of road in Richmond, BC, we counted there to be 18 bubble tea houses -- and the surprising thing is, on a given night, every one of them will be full of people!
